ORIGINAL 12" PIECED QUILT BLOCKS

Looking for some cool new quilt blocks to try out especially for your bee mates? Have a look below. When I design quilt blocks, I usually let nature guide me to the design. Then I draw it up on paper or directly in EQ7. Then I sew the block up at least twice to make sure the construction is quick, easy and efficient. Sometimes I have to change my method and paper piece instead of regular piecing.

Most of these were designed for Quiltmaker's 100 Blocks Volumes 11-15. Feel free to pick up a copy of the magazine or download a digital version of these blocks.

NEVERENDING TIME

Tick tock, get off my clock. Wouldn't it be nice if we had just more time? Never Ending Time creates an illustion of flipping over a time glass for a little bit more time.

This 12" is pieced using gentle curves with ease.

MOUNTAIN RANGE

Inspired by the Blue Ridge Mountains in North Carolina, USA! This unusual combination of triangles creates a very interesting repeat when used in a quilt.

POLAR STAR

Polar lights and polar stars - have you ever seen one? I haven't, but I would love too. And you? This is a not a block for beginners. You should know your foundation paper piecing.

DANUBE RIVER

The beauty of the "Donau" has a direct impact on our lives here in Germany. It is one of the largest rivers that flows through Southern Germany. Somedays it is the most beautiful creations on earth.

GRISTMILL STAR

My very first quilt block accepted by Quiltmaker's 100 Blocks. The first time I designed it, the center was made of folded squares and had a cool 3-D effect. I didn't sumbmit this one, because I thought it was too extravagent.
